Letter From DEFC President - Steve Buckle Senior Coach
To all our sponsors, members, supporters & players,
The committee made the decision to part ways with Seve Buckle after his eight seasons leading our club. This was a very difficult decision and even more so for myself on a personal level as I consider Bucks a respected, close friend who I have shared many great memories.
The decision was not taken lightly, however after eight years at one clun ad after a thorough review proccess we unanimously felt the players needed a fresh voice.
Steve's tenure has seen appearances in five finals, four Grand Finals, back to back premierships & coaching our ainden year in Premier Division which we contested vigorously. Bucks is passing the baton as DEFC's longest serving and most decorated coach.
To Buck's credit from his first interview through to our announcement meeting last night has has consistently shown class, passion and a genuine care for the players, staff and committee.
I wouldlike to thank Tara, Mckenzie, Hudson and Willow for supporting Steve whilst he spent probably too many hours at the club over the years. It goes without saying the DEFC doors will always be open to the Buckle family.
On behalf of the committee and greater DEFC family, I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the joy that you have brought to DEFC. Unfortunately all good things must come to an end, as we are temporary servants of this great club, but forever part of it's family.
I look forward to a send off BBQ when restrictions allow and whatever the near future holds for Bucks, whether it's coaching another side or robust banter on the Zerbes Hill as a DEFC Supporter!
Peter Sowersby
DEFC President
